MOTHER'S DAY

Late, late, late posting this, but I have been busy and not on the computer much of late. Now that I can read most of my e-mails on my cellphone, I tend to get on my computer loss often. Anyway. I had a very nice Mother's Day weekend. Jacob surprised me Fri. night and was here when I returned from taking the cats to the vet for their shots. He had parked his car on the street behind our house, so I wouldn't see it - Little Sneak! Plus I had called to see if Harold wanted me to pick-up some dinner at Arby's, which I did and I had asked if he had called yet to say if he was coming home or not and was told "No!" Come to find out he was already here (but that cost him to get no food - LOL!).

Saturday I went to a tea (not red hat related for once) at the Rising Sun Tavern. A friend of mine that worked there had put it together and asked me to come. I did dress up with a hat, but for once it wasn't a red hat. I wore one of mom's old hats that I had kept after she passed away. I felt so very close to her that day.

That is me in the black dress and white hat in front.

My friend Jo is in the center in her colonial wear.

Later on Sat., Jacob, Karli and Harold took me out for an early Mother's Day dinner at Carraba's Italian. It was delicious. They gave me my presents then.

My Mother's Day presents. The large dragonfly glass and flowers are from Harold, the smaller one was from Karli. The Password Organizer and Pink Ribbon Note pad are from Jacob.

On Mother's Day we grilled some chicken and sausage before Jacob had to head back to NC.

THEY'RE ENGAGED!

Jacob and Karli are engaged. He had told us while he was in Ft. Polk that he intended to propose when he returned. He proposed to her last weekend when she went down to see him in Ft. Bragg, upon his return. This weekend they let each of her parents know and then at a party for her grandparent's 50th anniversary (her mom's parents) and after telling her mom, her mom had them make an announcement to the entire family at the party. We are extremely happy to welcome her into the family. They have known each other since middle school.

Both my boys have made wonderful choices for their mates. I know they will both live happy lives together.

Our Visit with George and Family

Last month we went out to KS to take care of Brexton while Mandy packed up things for them to move out of their apt. while George is away. She and the kids are going out to CA to stay with her mom while George is overseas. So she packed away the things they were taking out with them in a trailer. George will finish up a few things that will go into storage before he heads out. They drove out to CA the day after we left and then George flew back to KS. Brexton is soooo cute and cuddly. He took to us immediately - no little shy boy act at all. He loves his grandpa, especially when he starts to get a little sleepy and grumpy. Grandpa had the magic touch with him then.

Such a cutie!

Who could resist this face!

Who me - I ain't gettin' into anythin'!

Mad Hatter Tea

I attended the ARC Mad Hatter Tea again this year along with 2 others from my RHSS group and 2 from my RHSM group. It was very nice and had a larger turnout than last year, so that was good to see. I won the Silly Hat Contest along with a cute little girl and I also won a door prize, so I was having a good day!

All the delicious goodies to eat!

Everyone got to choose their own tea cup!

My Winning Cheshire Cat hat!

It was a tie, this is the little girl that also won. Isn't she adorable!

Sr. Ctr. Cards

Well, I can't share the January cards as they are on my new cell phone and I have been unable to get them off it and into my computer.

Here are some from this month. A few of my regulars have not been able to attend lately due to conflicts and the ones that have been unable to do their own cards, so they have been picking out what they want on them and then tell me (or Bobbie, who has been assisting me) what they want done and we do it for them.

These cards use multiple stamp sets. The one on the left uses both a retired and a current set.

The card on the right is done using the new set from the Occassions mini called "Bring on the Cake", with the exception of the butterfly which is from a retired set.

Classic Convertibles Stamp Set (retired)
This card is made with the new Build-a-Cupcake punch and matching Create a Cupcake stamp set.

Stayin' Busy

Sorry, I haven't posted in awhile. I have been staying busy with my red hat groups and the Sr. Ctr., a couple of routine dr. appts. and enjoying Jacob's occasional weekend visits. With my red hatters I have lunched at Tru Luv's, Armetta's Italian, J. Brian's Tap Rm., Qdoba's and Pinkadilly Tea House and I have dined out for the Chinese New Year at Hunan D'Lite. Lots of fun! This past weekend I attended the Mad Hatter Tea put on by the ARC. I won the silly hat contest and got $15 worth of gift certificates for Red Lobster and immediately after that I won a door prize (Virginia Honey Roasted Peanuts). Needless to say, I had a great time there. And of course, I played Canasta on the 2nd and 4th Fri. of each month (if we didn't get snowed out). Well now to post some pictures of some of the Sr. Ctr. cards and then some pics from the Mad Hatter Tea. I will skip the rest otherwise I will be here all night posting. :-)

Valentine's Day

I made Harold his card with a little mouse on it again this year (5th year with a mousy on his card). The card was inspired by one done by Robin Messenheimer, you can see hers here. I made a few changes.

I used the Valentine Defined set in the current Occassions Mini. The mouse was made using the Wide Oval punch for the body and the wing from the 2-step bird punch trimmed down for the ear and the branch with leaves cut off for the tail. The hearts are from the Heart to Heart punch.

Here are my gifts from my sweet hubby:

I love this little rose bush and can't wait for the weather to get nice and plant it in my garden. I think I will put a little votive in the lady bug after that.
